KNOCK OUT SI JOINT TENSION. 👊💥
.⠀
The sacroiliac joint (SI) is the large joint responsible for transferring forces between the upper body and legs. ⠀
.⠀
It's basically the union where the tailbone meets the hipbone 🤝. It's required to do a lot of work, and over time can build up a lot of tension and discomfort.⠀⠀
.⠀
One of the most common causes of an SI joint issue is from muscle imbalance in the lower body. This causes bad movement into the joint, resulting in ligament strains. So let's tackle this. ⠀⠀
.⠀⠀
With this exercise, it'll focus on working muscles around the SI joint to help 'reset' it. This should allow for a lot of that built up strain to be released, improving flexibility and helping to get rid of discomfort in the area.⠀
.⠀
THE RESET:⠀
1️⃣ Knees at 90/90 with the hips.⠀
2️⃣ Push inward with the hands at the knee, outward with the legs.⠀
3️⃣ Hold 5 sec, relax, repeat 3-5 times.⠀
4️⃣ Switch it up by blocking the fists (or pillow) and putting them between the knees. ⠀
5️⃣ Push inwards with the legs, and outward with the fists. Again, hold 5 sec, relax, and repeat 3-5 times. ⠀
.⠀
👉🏻If there's an audible click, pop, or clunk... DON'T WORRY! It's just the tension being released since more movement is being put into the joint!
.⠀
Give it a try and tag someone that could use this on the SI joints. 📣 Don't forget to spread the good word! Questions or comments? Hit me up!⠀
