LET'S WORK ON THE ROTATOR CUFF. ๐Ÿ’ชโ €
โ€‹
Imagine trying to drive, use your cell phone, or even try to shower without needing to use the shoulder. ๐Ÿ› In everyday life, a big demand is placed on the shoulders. That's why it's so important to keep them in good shape.โ €
โ€‹
What makes the shoulder unique is unlike the larger joints of the lower body, the shoulder is made up of a soft tissue support system. We call this the rotator cuff.โ €
โ€‹
๐Ÿ‘‰Thereโ€™s 4 rotator cuff muscles, and they are all essential to providing stability to the shoulder capsule. Theyโ€™re also pretty small, but are required to do a large amount of work. Thatโ€™s why itโ€™s so common to see strains (and even tears) from overuse or trauma.โ €
โ€‹
So letโ€™s focus on improving mobility and strengthening the rotator cuff in a quick, simple two-part way. We're going to mix rotation ๐Ÿ”„ (to improve range of motion) with an isometric exercise that will help strengthen the rotator cuff without causing irritation. โ €
โ€‹
Give it a try, and work towards optimal rotator cuff health! Tag someone that is having shoulder issues, and help spread the good word!โ €
โ€‹
โš Note, this exercise is not intended for a rotator cuff tear. When in doubt, always get it checked out!
