SPINAL DECOMPRESSION STRETCH FOR L5-S1⠀
.⠀
So today's stretch focuses on reliving tension into the lower lumbar spine with the ELDOA method, created by French osteopath Guy Voyer. ⠀
.⠀
The method is a set of self-applied postural exercises that improve function and movement of joints. The big goal of this is applying focused internal tension and load to reduce pressure on the spinal discs, improve blood flow, and (ultimately) reduce back pain.⠀
.⠀
HERE'S HOW TO DO THE STRETCH:⠀
1️⃣ Start by bringing the bottom/butt bones against a wall.⠀
2️⃣ Space the feet hips-width apart, and rotate the legs so feet are pointing inwards.⠀
3️⃣ Point the feet inwards and then down.⠀
4️⃣ Tuck the chin (without lifting the head) and look between the legs.⠀
5️⃣ One arm at a time, push the palms towards the ceiling.⠀
6️⃣ Now, one arm at a time lower the arms to the floor, so the bicep is near the ear. ⠀
.⠀
⏰ Hold this position for up to 1 minute. If it's too much at the beginning, go shorter but keep working at it! ⠀
.⠀
