A BETTER HAMSTRING STRETCH.⠀

Ever wondered if the classic "touch the toes" hammy stretch might actually be causing more issues than fixing? 🤔

With the classic 'touch the toes' motion, the knees are locked and the upper body is bent forward. This causes a ton of tension on low back nerves. 💥↘️

ALSO, this motion tends to round out the low back so it becomes more of a lumbar flexion movement vs actually stretching and lengthening the hamstrings. ⠀

HERE'S THE FIX:
1️⃣ Slightly bend in the knee.
2️⃣ Start to lean forward into the stretch and engage the pelvis/hip (the hamstring is a hip mover, get it involved). ⠀
3️⃣ Breathe slow and controlled. ⠀
4️⃣ Once a good stretch is felt, hold for up to 30 seconds.⠀
5️⃣ Relax, switch sides, and repeat 3 to 5 times on each side.⠀

NOTE: take caution with any recent hamstring injuries, since stretching ripped/aggravated muscle tissue isn't a good idea 🔥🤕. When in doubt, always get it checked out.⠀
