HOW TO HELP PREVENT SCIATICA.
.
Today we're going to look at supine knee-raises. It's a really simple one, but offers a lot of benefit! 👍
.⠀
First, sciatica commonly limits hip and lumbar flexion (think bending forward ↘️), so this exercise will slowly help improve mobility in the hips and back.⠀
.⠀
Next, it's going to focus on strengthening the core muscles, which are extremely important on stabilizing the back and preventing future/further injury⠀
.⠀
HOW TO DO IT:⠀
1️⃣ Lie flat on the back, knees slightly bent and feet flat. ⠀
2️⃣ Slowly, bring the knees towards the body⠀
3️⃣ Then slowly return back to the starting position. ⠀
4️⃣ Do 15 reps, relax, and then repeat 3-5 times. ⠀
👉 Tip: take time with this exercise! Make sure to feel the tension in the abs/stomach.⠀
.⠀
As always, if this causes more sciatic nerve pain, stop immediately. It's not designed to cure sciatica or any issues/injuries that are currently causing it. Getting it checked out by a healthcare professional is always the best answer. ⠀
